Nashville Predators re-assign Chris Mueller to Milwaukee

With Craig Smith returning to duty last night, the Nashville Predators are sending Chris Mueller back to the Milwaukee Admirals. Mueller acquitted himself well in limited action, fitting in nicely on the 4th line. It looks like he's earned himself a job as the Preds #1 call-up in the event of a roster issue at center, a nice development for a guy who didn't even have an NHL contract early last season.

This move puts the Preds back at 21 players on the Active Roster, along with Jerred Smithson on Injured Reserve. Ryan Suter has apparently already ruled himself out of tomorrow's game at Columbus, meaning the lineup is pretty much set unless other roster moves take place over the next 24 hours.

So nothing on Smithson?

Rats.

Suter

One would seem to think that since they both made the trip, they would both be playing at some point while on the road. Right?

Mueller

I really wish we would have kept him up. I know McGrattan fills the tough guy role but he is just such a waste of a roster space. Like Dirk pointed out in his observations of last night’s game, he barely played. And when he was out there, he seemed a step behind Smith and Halischuk. Would have been nice to be able to roll that line and see what HB and Matt could have done with Mueller instead of McGrattan. Both are great players and they are basically playing without another forward out there. When Mueller and Halischuk played with Kostitsyn against the Ilanders, they were responsible for 2 of our goals. Bummer.

I love Big Ern, but I still can’t understand why Trotz wanted him. Some games he’s decent, but like you said, he doesn’t play very much and he’s slow. Sometimes I wonder if he was hired to help Tootie with staying sober. Hey, if that were the case, it would he would be worth it. And yes, I know it’s far fetched, but hey," there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our philosophy" WS.

He is not slow. Surprisingly, not slow.

I think Mueller played well. Perhaps we were showcasing him.
