If they keep this up, the stakes could get higher and higher for the Nashville Predators. Tonight, in front of an energetic Bridgestone Arena, the Preds took advantage of a tired Chicago Blackhawks team and steamrolled their way to a 5-2 victory. The win moves Nashville to within 4 points of Chicago, although the Preds have a game in hand and get another crack at the Blackhawks on Tuesday at the United Center.
Video highlights and post-game reaction from today's win after the jump:
It was a pleasure to meet SamFels and Killion from Second City Hockey before the game, there were a ton of Blackhawks fans in attendance tonight, which helped create a tremendous atmosphere early on.
That said, it was funny to hear Martin Erat in the post-game interview talk about the fans cheering during the anthem, and how that helped get the Preds pumped up for the game. Did he know that those were the Chicago fans doing that?
Colin Wilson was a dynamo tonight, with a 1st-period rush that should have drawn a tripping call, and several other highlights in the offensive end.
Who else was surprised to see Matt Halischuk get the scratch? Show of hands?
Kudos to Kevin Klein for earning 1st Star of the Game, the whole D corps stepped up as Francis Bouillon left the game with an injury. We'll have to wait and see whether he'll be able to go on Monday, and/or whether Ryan Suter will return.
Brandon Yip looked like a reasonable 4th-line winger in his Preds debut. Post-game, Barry Trotz mentioned that he hasn't played much lately, so we'll have to reserve judgment for a few weeks I guess.
It's a late night, so I'm keeping the recap short - but it will be very interesting to see how the Preds follow up this big win. They face the ultimate trap game Monday night at home vs. Columbus, before traveling to Chicago for a rematch with the Blackhawks on Tuesday. Wins in both those games could send Nashville into the All-Star break right up there alongside the Western Conference leaders...
Even Stu Grimson and Willy admitted that Halischuk’s name didn’t come up when they were discussing who would sit for Yip. It made me sad to see that Hustlechuck was the one they chose, mostly because he’s done everything that’s been asked and more all year.
With that said, Yip does have size on Halischuk and probably does have a higher ceiling. Still… Bring back Hustlechuck!!!
Go up to the very top of the page, and in the grey box on the right side, look for where it says “view” (this is in the fanpost box). Then click “wide.” Mitch will show up :)
Yea, not sure where I learned that… I think I actually decided to read some post directed at newcomers on how to navigate the site, and found that. It was a very fun discovery.
Was probably due to the fact he’s the only one that’s played every game thus far. Give the guy a little rest while they’re testing Yip out. Put some fire in C Smith and C Wilson who had been on a bit of a dry spell (particularly Smith). Glad to see them finding the back of the net.
My favorite part of the game was Hossa’s reaction to Josi stealing the puck from him. It isn’t in the highlights, but he said something very angry, and slammed his stick into the boards. I giggled.
The part of the replay I was referring to he was using his stick to demonstrate the alleged slash from Josi. After that he slammed his stick. He wasn’t a happy boy.
and to that Kostitsyn guy who has been more energetic lately, and man has he ever scored some sick goals lately. Colin Wilson has rock this year. Lets hope the All Star Break doesn’t kill our chemistry.
Hopefully this is a turning point in Klein’s career and we look back on his past mistakes and laugh.
I’ve been cheering him so long, we’re almost common law.
Did you hear all of those Klein Whistles tonight?
I don’t know why they sound like train whistles…
Since Kevin Klein came back from an issue the Predators called the flu on Jan. 1, he is a plus-4. Before then, he was a minus-11 on the season. He has also played over 23 minutes twice. Klein averages 20:39. On a defense corp that features Shea Weber and Ryan Suter, Klein is often the forgotten man. At times, he is prone to a mistake or two, but he has made fewer of them since the new year. In those 10 games he has six points. Klein is very quietly playing his best hockey of the season.
I wouldn’t think any goals scored would be sick. Really, what is meant by using sick and insane to describe good things? Young people! I just don’t understand! ;p}
Haha. When a goal is beyond "sick" or "insane", my brother and I use the term "disgusting."
It has to be REALLY excellent though – truly worthy of the term. A good example of a “disgusting” goal would be when Ovechkin scored from his back, with his stick behind his head. Another would be the Marek Malik shootout goal on the Caps. The level talent necessary to score those goals is so high it’s just disgusting. The term just has a certain je ne sais quoi to it.
I could never quite get into it, which surprised me cause I love Arrested Development, and they strike me as relatively similar. It seemed right up my alley. Oh well, I guess.
Yeah, she wanted it just because of the tv show. Now a days you see all sorts of color suits at sporting events. I think it a bad idea because they can show a little to much profile, and as I saw happen to green man a football game, may lure someones grandma into wanting to get a little too touchy feel….Pretty weird and inappropriate…Poor guy.
I heard that, too, and wondered whether I’d misheard it, as I was at the drive-thru getting Frosties at the time. Hard to imagine that he never noted that they do that, in all the games he’s played in Chicago over the years.
I did talk to his childhood friend at the Philly game. Does that count for something?
Okay, so it was in English. But I did guess that the language they were speaking was Czech, and that had very little to do with the Erat and Jagr jerseys they were wearing.
Okay, so it had everything to do with the jersies.
A few people mentioned that Josi was at fault for getting caught, but watching it again, he was way down at the net to begin with (as is his style, to bring the puck in), and taking a shot on net. Moreover, someone (it’s hard to see, but based on the play-by-play, I believe it’s Colin Wilson) WAS covering Hossa on the far boards, and left him to come back into the zone. If they’re playing man-on-man (which I believe they were, especially against Hossa), HE SHOULD NOT BE LEAVING HIS MAN, I.E., HOSSA. That was his job. Big no-no to Colin Wilson.
What time did they land? Did they also leave CHI late? Snow there and t-storms here, I think (and a tornado warning in Wm Co., in the middle of the night).
I’ve always said that I’d rather a team that we’re facing that played the night before win that game than lose, as it takes some of the hunger out of them if things start going wrong. You could tell that the Hawks, who got in late due to weather issues, really didn’t look like they wanted to play the high energy game we were going at them with and once they got behind they really didn’t force things to much. It’ll be the other way around on Tuesday night, so we’ll see what happens there.
We got some good bounces tonight with the Klein goal and the Hawks hitting two posts in the first period. A game of inches it is sometimes.
Not happy with Halischuk getting scratched. What more does he have to do to stay in the lineup? If getting Yip pushes Halischuk to the press box, then it’s a more bizarre move than it even appeared before. Not getting that decision.
The main reason I didn’t pick the Hawks to win the Central was their goaltending. They’ve got to be a bit nervous about Crawford come playoff time. Maybe that’s where they need to find help out.
Only 5 goals given up in the past 3 games with Suter out of the lineup. Never bought the theory that we’re better without Weber than when we’re without Suter. Both are huge to our success.
I think there were a lot of people singing along when they played “Mahna Mahna.” I think it would be fun to use that one regularly.
I also think that the solution to the anthem thing would be to ask fans to sing along. If they start in with their crap, we stop, reiterate that we’re going to sing along, and begin again.
is is just me or are the things hawks fans do.... for slow people
National anthem they clap and yell. After they score a goal all they do is say duh duh duh, duh duh duh. Guess they probably flew in on the short plane
Seriously guys who is that guys wearing the klein mask out on the ice. Everyone was shocked that was a goal cause pete was like “wait that went in the net?!”
I wonder if the Preds players ever go through the Wendy’s drive through after the game just to say…..“Free frosties for everyone…..our treat……..with a game ticket that is.”
Seemed like half of Chicago came down to Nashville for the game tonight
Too bad they forgot to take their hockey team with them. :P
Seriously though, solid performance by the Preds tonight. I was amazed at the amount of red in the arena, but fortunately we didn’t give them a whole lot to cheer about. Klein put in another solid performance, and I liked what I saw from Yip. He skates hard and made some nice checks.
If we hung around on this thread and commented the now-typical 1000+ comments, Dirk would get up and be stunned at the comment count on a post-game thread.
I had 12 people there with me, including two who had never been to a hockey game before. I like it most because I was there for it :-) That CBJ game I didn’t even get to watch :-(
I could have been sitting next to you the whole game and have never known it. The only game that I got to see while I was in NSH but worth every minute.
Aw, that sucks! I spent a little bit of extra money I had saved up and went to all of them. (Granted, the second Wings game, my dad’s buddy got us tickets.)
not me. I just added a profile picture finally. this was actually taken after that same Wings game. Me and two of my sisters ran into Krazy Kyle in front of the pro shop after the game and got our picture with him.
Krazy Kyle helped out (musically) at my high school’s rendition of Our Town! My brother did behind the scenes stuff with him, and said he was awesome (but indeed rather Krazy).
Yeah. When I went to the Avs game, I was really underwhelmed by their entertainment stuff during the game (specifically music). Their organist wasn’t NEARLY as talented as Krazy Kyle.
I should scan my picture with Paul Kariya in… I was 16, so I look REALLY young, and I look absolutely terrified, but it was one of the best moments of my life. I wonder if I have it on my computer up here…
I only know of Kariya by reputation from you all here at OTF. I didn’t know or care anything about any sports (after I lost interest in the Braves after the ‘94 strike) until I went to my first live Predators game. I think it was March 12th, against the Rangers (4-2 loss, I’ve hated the Rangers ever since) but I was hooked instantly. That’s awesome that you had your picture with a legend like him.
Oh man, Kariya is my all-time favorite player. Mostly I think cause he’s a little guy who got a lot of respect, but I loved him. It was so cool. My travel team was going to Nationals that year, and he asked me about it after my dad prompted me to tell him about it… I don’t even remember what he said, HA!
where there is ice. somewhere where a 31 year old (or older by then) can learn to handle hockey gear. I at least learned to skate pretty well when I was young. I just want to learn with some other recreational old farts like me to play the game that I’ve grown to love over the last 3 years.
They have a GREAT league IN Nashville – the CB League. They play at the SportsPlex (same rink where the Preds practice). If you’re ever thinking about moving to Nashville, you should check it out.
once a month on Homeschool Ice Skate Day we’d drive down the hour from Westmoreland. I later lived in Nashville, and went and skated there, but didn’t have the time and money to get equipment and start playing, since I was working and going to school. then 2 1/2 years ago I left Nashville.
Ah, okay. Yeah, that’s where I learned too! I played in the NYHL for a long time. Well, hopefully you’ll be able to actually play some day. It’s so much fun. I really miss it.
It’s a men’s league for 30 and up, I believe. I know they have different levels, for brand new players up to guys like Danny Geoffrion (Blake’s dad), who still live in town and still play.
The Oilers and Flames both have some sort of intermission games, but nothing compared to the sumo hockey at the bridge…it was fantastic to watch. Actually the oilers play kind of like a giant game of memory on the ice during one of the intermissions.
I’ll be up in Edmonton one day… one of my “things” is that I want to see the Preds play in every arena in the NHL. So far I have two down (Bridge, Pepsi Center), 28 to go!
Yeah, I felt like it kind of was too. HA, we were actually late to the game because my boyfriend missed one of the turns to get there… I missed the first goal, and was not pleased :P
I am sure that was probably the last thing that he wanted to do. There are not too many turns from Castle Rock to Denver, but those one way streets in Denver sometimes are confusing.
Yep, it was one of the one-way streets haha. Nah, he wasn’t trying to be late, it was just one of those things that happened… I was a good girlfriend though – I didn’t b*tch and moan, because it wasn’t his fault (no matter how much I wanted to, lol).
I wanted to get lower bowl, but most of the people I went with were in thrift mode in early December. And I wanted to go to the game with 2 of my sisters, 2 of my brothers, my older brother’s wife, a friend from Johnson City and his girlfriend, my cousin (a michigan native and Wings fan, haha) my mom, her fiancee, and another friend. 318 is pretty good for upper bowl.
but probably not for the rest of this season. Budget is pretty tight to drive there and back just for a game unless I can get together with some more people and split gas.
OH wow. Right, Edmonton!! I actually get to see hardly any. My roommate and I downgraded our cable package to save money, so now we don’t get NBC Sports Network, the artist formerly known as Versus. It’s sad, but saves money. Weirdly, we don’t even get the local sports network for some reason, so I can’t watch the Bruins play either (not that I really want to). I’ve just resigned myself to the rivers of the Interwebz.
Yeah, I just pay the $20 a month for gamecenter online instead of paying for cable, and since I am out of market, I can watch pretty much every game, except local and nationally televised games.
Nice. I’ve been debating doing that… cause of the random blackouts, I’m not sure if it’s worth it to buy it JUST for one team. It’s becoming more and more enticing though.
Maybe that would be bad for me… cause I won’t get jack done… but at the same time, I’d probably do it anyway, so maybe I will. Do the blackouts infuriate you like they seem to infuriate others?
Okay. Huh. Maybe I’ll just do it, then. I just got paid on Friday, so I have the money. I probably wouldn’t want to do full year, cause that’s gonna go into the summer and be too much for too few games, but I could do month by month.
but I’m actually closer to Raleigh. only 240 miles (but not as fast of roads through the mountains) I could go catch Canes games (if I want to see a team lose)
I wasn’t very nice to Hawks fans tonight. I pointed to some around us during the “Hey” chant. This one guy looked dejectedly at me, expecting it by 4-1. I also walked by the mini pro-shop as some Hawks fans were headed in, and asked whether they were going to buy a Preds jersey.
I mean, it’s almost a protective gesture, in the sense that he’s orienting the guy and himself… does that make sense at all or am I talking crazy? I feel like definitely wasn’t his fault though. It looked like Nikitin lost an edge.
Oh yeah, Nikitin definitely lost his edge there. Hardly any contact from Zetterberg. At least not enough to make a NHL caliber skater go hard into the boards.
Well maybe I have just watch to many Ducks and Vancouver games? Just saying most of the wings aren’t dirty players. When we play the Ducks I constantly worry about Preds players getting hurt.
They are awesome at home though. I just can’t believe how many of their games have gone to OT/SO in the last 11 games or so. It is like they are taunting me.
It’s a BBC show – only 2 seasons thus far, 3 episodes each. Each episode is 1.5 hours long, so like a short movie. It’s AMAZING. It’s pretty much Sherlock Holmes in 21st Century England. If you like Sherlock Holmes, I HIGHLY recommend this.
Chci udělat další GDT vše v českém, ale myslím, že dostane naštvaný. Gril Weber reklama je velmi zábavné poslouchat a dívat se. Stýská se mi po Weber brady – Doufám, že jeho nový roste brzy.
Just caught the first episode. Very well done. I like how they took a classic Sherlock Holmes case and kept the premise intact but changed the details to keep it fresh.
Haha. I wish. I actually got up at 9:30 this morning. My roommate’s dog was barking at my neighbor as he was snow-blowing his driveway, and I couldn’t get back to sleep after that.
Been wondering how it was. May have to go watch it tomorrow. Monday and tuesday games are going to be interesting hopefully we play better in our second game then the hawks did
Oh, it’s fantastic. The main guy, Benedict Cumberbatch, is in Tinker Tailor, actually. He’s also going to be the voice of Sauron and Smaug in the Hobbit, and is the villain in the new Star Trek. The guy who plays Watson is Bilbo himself!
I have a friend who enjoys reading them, but I can’t figure out for the life of me WHY. He says they’re etherial and lyrical and something… blah blah. He’s probably right, in a technical sense, buuuuut I just kinda told him that’s awesome, and all the more unnecessary Tolkien-poem-reading for him!
Haha, no just off to visit my boyfriend. I think the skiing thing just came up as an association with Colorado… there was no skiing. I did get to go to the Preds/Avs game where we won 4-1, though! That was awesome.
What normally ends up happening to me is I sleep until like 5 or 6 PM and then stay up until 11 PM. Then I get up at like 3 or 4 AM on my other days off. It is pretty crazy. If I can plan something to do on the first day off it is not too bad. If I don’t have anything to do, I am out.
It’s ok. Working one day by itself is kinda dumb. I liked when I have 2-1-2-2 shift. I think that was Sun-Mon ON, Tue OFF, Wed-Thurs ON, Fri-Sat OFF. Something like that.
Where were the 45% Hawks fans? I wasn’t there, but watching the replay I saw pockets of them, but nowhere near 45%. I would say it looked more like 20%. I think the red sticks out and makes it look like there are more of them than their actually are. We have the problem now of Gold/Blue/White. When more people get the gold jerseys I think it will be pretty impressive. Unless the 300 level was 75% Hawks fans, I don’t think it was that bad. Even 20% is a lot in your arena though.
uh cause he was wining and dining that cute little blonde girl on the ship… he wanted to dock his ship and forgot he was supposed to be driving the boat
But it looks as if you could photoshop that but jezz is this funny. Not the fact of what happened but the photo its self is such a funny shot cause it shows how big that ship really is
BTW, I feel weird having like nothing to do right now.
Since I just finish 3 months of Visual Basic classes and tons of work for that. Now all I have left is a final project with a team of 4 and that’s creating 2 websites (easy in comparison!)
Yeah, the voting for the ASG really pisses me off. Sorry, but some of the guys do NOT deserve to be there! Just because you’ve done well historically doesn’t mean that you’re guaranteed an “in” to the ASG.
I wonder if I can find a clip of that. I hope he’s back soon. I feel like we usually have SOME idea of what it is, but I don’t think anyone has the slightest cluse.
Or, just like speculation, I guess. Like we don’t know for sure, but we’ve been able to guess. I can’t think off the top of my head right now, but I feel like there’s something… Oh, like Fisher maybe? I can’t remember. It’s late. I may or may not be able to back up that statement tomorrow, after some sleep haha.
My right wrist is shot to hell, and though it’s normally fine, sometimes it flares up unexpectedly (like when I picked up my notebook yesterday) and I can’t move it at all.
True. But I think he out-hustles Hustlechuk! I can’t remember which game it was… vs. Colorado maybe? But I remember seeing this play where the other Dman was going for the puck against the boards, and he just shot up, BARELY poked the puck away, and took it in for a SOG.
Yeah, that’s true too. But now I’m worried about the All-Star game! Will I be able to watch it?! I don’t want to watch it on my shitty computer… maybe I’ll just change the cable package for one month.
This team may be more balanced on both sides of the puck than they were a year ago. Offensively, the Predators are the 13th best team in the NHL and defensively, they’re the 10th best team. Last season they had the third best defense and 21st best offense. Nashville’s points percentage is also better this season than it was through 82 games a year ago. Nashville is at .625 percent, versus .604 percent last season.
Take out the rough start with all the kiddies, maybe Poile will be right!
Exactly. I’ve learned to just trust him. He’s like a parent… you think he’s an idiot at first, but the longer you wait and the older you get, the more you realize he knows what he’s doing.
I really want someone to write an article later in the season, about the players we let walk away this year, vs. the rookies/ younger guys that took over their roles.
Yeah, that would be really interesting. Because I think there are probably some fair comparisons. It’d be informative, too. Silence all the “FIRE POILE!” people, hopefully, too.
I could feel the energy through the TV. Really got annoyed at all my friends texting me bout all the HOT Chicago girls wearing leggins abd getting drunk as F………
I always love how teams that think they are so much better (Wings, Hawks, Nucks) can never admit that the other team beat them. It is always because their team played bad, bad calls, conspiracies, stuff like that. I think around here when the Preds get out played, we admit it and give props to the other team. Also, I am glad that swearing is generally frowned upon here. I can tolerate swearing, and I will occasionally swear, but they swear in almost every post. I like how we have to be creative.
Let’s hope we can take it to CBJ and then get CHI again at their place. Here is hoping Suter and Bouillion get well quick.
Yeah, swearing is OK with me when it’s not a childish thing like 10 in a row. Not saying they are babies at SCH, just they can do better. I know many over there that are wittier than that!
At least we have a nice cushion over the teams below us. And if we do end up playing San Jose, they don’t really scare me all that much. Joe Thorton is not the same guy who used to give us fits back in the earlier playoff matchups, same goes for Marleau….I wouldn’t mind finally putting away SJ, third times a charm?
I would say the building was 25% tops Hawks fans not 45%! Of course they’re annoying as hell but no so much last night! For those who think were alright without Suter – here is my take from last night. Weber had to play 29 minutes and with Cube out the 5 man rotation was a scramble to say the least. Caught a tired Hawks team at the right time.
Pekka was a little shaky and the game changes if the Hawks don’t ring two shots off the post and crossbar. IMO this team will not win consistently if either Suter or Weber leave.
Both players are that much better and BTW on Hossa’s first goal Shea skate caught something and he was off balance from the get go.
And every time a team gets their a$$e$ kicked they blame it on being tired. Teams get that all the time. We crused them tonight, and in our defense, Pekka had a terrible game. Shoulda been 5-0.
I dont buy the tried notion one bit they all grew up playing and have spent years training for an 82 game season. You might be a step slower but once that adrenalin kicks in you are not tired. You might be sluggish but not tired
Exactly. Most of us played sports when we were young and ive done different sports on the same weekend so youll play 5 or 6 games. Yeah your exhausted when you get home but for the games your ready to go
Oh man, I remember there was one hellish week in high school when I had a game Wednesday, practice Thursday, and a game Friday for high school, 2 games Saturday and 1 game Sunday in Chicago for travel, and practice on Monday and a game Wednesday for high school. I think I slept for about 72 hours after it was all said and done, hahaha.
It depended on whether it was high school or travel.
High school I was very much a stay-at-home D because I didn’t want to get killed. I’m small, and was playing against guys who had 10" and +50lbs. on me. Travel, I had much more “Josi-like tendencies,” haha… I really liked to carry the puck into the offensive zone, and I was usually able to avoid turning it over because I learned to move very quickly in high school to avoid getting murdered (there’s no hitting in girl’s travel).
In all fairness, it was not only a back-to-back, but their plane got in at 2’ish. They probably weren’t in bed ‘till 3. But we were without Suter, and were down to five defensivemen went Bouillon went out. I’d say those factors probably were at least close to having equal impact.
Yea, that sucks. Not to mention that even something like getting into bed at 3am can just throw off your routine and make you feel weird… and EVERYTHING in hockey on game day is about routine.
I don’t think Weber’s skate caught on anything. It just looks like a really poor transition. Weber thought Hossa was skating slower than he actually was, and by the time he realized he was wrong, Hossa was behind him. The problem also isn’t HOW he transitioned, but WHEN he transitioned. Instead of having to turn a 180 degrees, which is very simple, he had to do more like 270 degrees. Check the highlight out again with that in mind. He starts out with his body turned too far towards center ice because he overcommitted and thought Hossa was gonna break down the middle. When Hossa broke to the far left boards because he had more room over there, Weber realized that he had to adjust at the last minute, aaaand… oopsies. Turning that much that quickly is really difficult, especially at that speed and with that last-minute of a decision. Oh well :( good thing it doesn’t happen often!
I think there are some things that are difficult to notice, or look for (or you wouldn’t think to think about) without playing experience. It isn’t impossible without it, obviously, but I think knowing the situation can be helpful. (Here, for instance, it was about the feeling, motion, range, and speed involved in skating transitions; otherwise, it does look a bit like Weber catches his skate, or something.)
I’m excited for Klein, and happy he had such a good game. For someone who gets a lot of criticism (which i think is due to people blowing his mistakes out of proportion) he’s really taken a big step from last year and I think he hasn’t peaked yet. Maybe he got bit by a radioactive spider or something and that’s why he was sick for a bit and then came back like a BOSS!
Avs fan here, I know ya’ll are excited for Yip, just don’t get overly excited. He can be a fairly good player, but his work ethic is the problem. If Trotz can get him to actually work hard (and play defense, hah) then he may be alright. Honestly, I don’t think he really fits in with the whole defense first motto, but I hope all goes well for him. If he works out for you guys, great, and good luck in the playoff race.
i think we're figuring out where he fits in with the team right now...
a lot of us think we got him so that we could send some of our young guys back to the AHL team for some more seasoning. He’s probably not going to be seeing a whole lot of minutes…
Still… Bring back Hustlechuck!!!
dnorm4 - January 22, 2012
and has 10 goals… we need that
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Time to graft Halischuk’s hands on Bourque’s body.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Halischuk has the worst possession numbers on the team. He’s not a bad fourth liner, but there’s no one I’d scratch before him.
Sam Page - January 22, 2012
Dang statistics… Prove my heart wrong everytime.
dnorm4 - January 22, 2012
14 points, 10 goals, plus 2… pretty good numbers to me!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Ten goals is nice
but his entire game is just directing the puck to the blue ice. Which isn’t a bad thing, admittedly, it just makes for a very one dimensional player.
Sam Page - January 22, 2012
Everybody welcome Patric Hornqvist Jr. :)
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
good! there’s blue ice right in front of their goalie before the net
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
P.S. Hornqvist is very under appreciated in my book. He is a catalyst for so many goals that he doesn’t get credit for.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
100% agreement. And on top of that, he CONSTANTLY takes crap from every team, every night, and never gets a call.
davisca - January 22, 2012
ya he does do great things that don’t show on the score sheet. Think of how many times he screens the goalie
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
You think Anders hates watching movies with him for this reason. “Hey Patric come on move out of the way”
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Especially if it’s a Pixar movie.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
You think he bribes him to move with his gummy bears?
davisca - January 22, 2012
HAhahahahahaha
cisar - January 22, 2012
I think that even sitting down, Anders is still taller
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
You’ve seen that picture of Anders taking a knee next to Mitch Korn, right? I think he’s STILL taller than Mitch.
davisca - January 22, 2012
yep!! haha!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Can't find that one, but this is great!
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Oh, no! Korn is peeking out from behind, but that part doesn’t show! How did that happen?
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Also, Anders’ hair is exceptionally well quaffed for the middle of practice.
davisca - January 22, 2012
There really is another skate back there! Oh a caption contest is definitely in order.
Catwoman - January 22, 2012
Pekka
cisar - January 22, 2012
Anders
cisar - January 22, 2012
AAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!
We need to have a caption contest for this.
davisca - January 22, 2012
try this link and see whether you can see Korn:
http://ingoal.ingoalmagazine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/Lindback-Rinne-Korn.jpg
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
I can see him, yep.
davisca - January 22, 2012
But not in the actual picture post, right? Don’t know what went wrong there.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
No, he's in the original post too.
Go up to the very top of the page, and in the grey box on the right side, look for where it says “view” (this is in the fanpost box). Then click “wide.” Mitch will show up :)
davisca - January 22, 2012
Well, aren’t you the knowledgable one?
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Yea, not sure where I learned that… I think I actually decided to read some post directed at newcomers on how to navigate the site, and found that. It was a very fun discovery.
davisca - January 22, 2012
BTW: Pekka's taller.
He’s either got heels on or it’s Lindback’s hair that makes him taller.
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
but how about his coordination
on his tip-in goal from Klein tonight.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Halischuk's healthy scratch
Was probably due to the fact he’s the only one that’s played every game thus far. Give the guy a little rest while they’re testing Yip out. Put some fire in C Smith and C Wilson who had been on a bit of a dry spell (particularly Smith). Glad to see them finding the back of the net.
rew182 - January 22, 2012
i could watch klein’s goal all day
predmama - January 22, 2012
favorite part of the game was Josi stealing it from Hossa
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Me too, but Sergei’s goal was also nice.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
You know what else is really nice….watching us score on the power play and having a solid PK.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
All of the above.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Will THEY stop hating Sergei now?
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
probably
until the 1st half of next season. I hope he doesn’t disappear in the playoffs again this year.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 23, 2012
My favorite part of the game was Hossa’s reaction to Josi stealing the puck from him. It isn’t in the highlights, but he said something very angry, and slammed his stick into the boards. I giggled.
davisca - January 22, 2012
He probably shouted…“Does he know who I am…I am cup winner Marian Hossa.” Actually this sounds like a good OTF caption contest for this week.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I wonder if it’s in the game photos…
davisca - January 22, 2012
If someone recorded the game, they should do a YouTube video and post a link here…
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
No pictures of it, unfortunately. If someone did record the game, though, that would be awesome. He was absolutely LIVID.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Unhappy Blackhawks (and bandwagon fans) make me happy.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Always.
davisca - January 22, 2012
He wasn’t just angry, he was whining at the ref. The stick action was because he wanted slashing on Josi. The replay was clearly not slashing.
Catwoman - January 22, 2012
Or maybe he was whining because he didn’t get enough stick on Josi to trip him?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Good point
Catwoman - January 22, 2012
Whining, angry, whatever. Same thing. He was pissed and he slammed his stick.
davisca - January 22, 2012
His (wife? girlfriend?) was probably drooling over Josi.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Hey, can’t blame her.
davisca - January 22, 2012
The part of the replay I was referring to he was using his stick to demonstrate the alleged slash from Josi. After that he slammed his stick. He wasn’t a happy boy.
Catwoman - January 22, 2012
Oh. I was referring to the second part. Hey, whatever, he was pissed and that brings me joy!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Definitely. Fun all around tonight.
Catwoman - January 22, 2012
Take two of these and Klein me in the morning
cisar - January 22, 2012
Are those suppositories?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Is that FRIST?!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Hats off to Klein....
and to that Kostitsyn guy who has been more energetic lately, and man has he ever scored some sick goals lately. Colin Wilson has rock this year. Lets hope the All Star Break doesn’t kill our chemistry.
Hopefully this is a turning point in Klein’s career and we look back on his past mistakes and laugh.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Klein has been awesome for the last month!
Before that, he was only great.
cisar - January 22, 2012
Remember how much worse we looked when he was out?
Awwww, Klein is finally getting some love…
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
I’ve been cheering him so long, we’re almost common law.
Did you hear all of those Klein Whistles tonight?
I don’t know why they sound like train whistles…
cisar - January 22, 2012
He’s all growed up! I no longer almost pee myself every time he gets the puck in our zone!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Uh……
cisar - January 22, 2012
(It scared me that much. I couldn’t look.)
davisca - January 22, 2012
From Cooper's postgame notes:
The Kleinflu made him stronger! How Nietzschean!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Hahahahaha, that’s wonderful. Nietzschean… great reference.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I wouldn’t think any goals scored would be sick. Really, what is meant by using sick and insane to describe good things? Young people! I just don’t understand! ;p}
amyinsparta - January 22, 2012
That Klein goal was so cray!
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sick
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=insane
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
The term just has a certain je ne sais quoi to it.
davisca - January 22, 2012
or nasty! like nasty in a good way!
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
like SK74's
disgusting 1-handed SHG against the Wings last year?
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 23, 2012
YES, exactly like that!
davisca - January 23, 2012
That goal was sickly insane.
cisar - January 23, 2012
Weber got deked out of his pants on that first goal.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Weber doesn’t want to wear pants but the league has to somehow restrain his natural defensive abilities.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Can’t carry two sticks. It’s in the rules.
cisar - January 22, 2012
please somebody get this
when I pick up a hockey stick all my instincts tell me to use it as a weapon
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
“Dr. Hook” McCracken was your idol?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
He was so good on the Ogilthorpe line.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Always Sunny in Johnson City!
cisar - January 22, 2012
YYEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Wow, I really need to start watching that show.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I could never quite get into it, which surprised me cause I love Arrested Development, and they strike me as relatively similar. It seemed right up my alley. Oh well, I guess.
davisca - January 22, 2012
maybe its just a guy show? I don’t know any females that like it
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
You know females?
cisar - January 22, 2012
yes, 2
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Wait there is a mom and sister joke in here somewhere.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
No, that is who he is talking about. It isn’t funny.
cisar - January 22, 2012
C.D. is always a step ahead…quickest wit in the west…….ern conference?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
yes!! haha
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Where is your picture from?
cisar - January 22, 2012
Preds bench. I tried out for the team… didn’t make it very far cause I didn’t know we were supposed to provide our own equipment
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
also, that whole skating thing…. I thought they were going to teach us that
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Whoops!
davisca - January 22, 2012
It is much easier to skate once you get the hockey stick.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
You know me.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Hmm… you might have a point there, actually. Everyone I know that likes it is a guy….
davisca - January 22, 2012
P.S. Arrested Development is the best and I can’t wait until it’s return in 2013.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
it is ssoooo good! love that show!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
I AM SO EXCITED. I lost it when I heard it was coming back for a season and movie. Oh man, I can’t wait.
davisca - January 22, 2012
One of the best shows ever. I’m glad its coming back, I just hope they don’t screw it up.
Now if only we could get back Firefly…
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Firefly is awesome too! I haven’t seen many episodes, but I watched Serenity, and it was fantastic.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Serenity’s what got me into the series. Its criminal that it got cancelled. Poor marketing on FOX’s part I guess.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Also possibly too good for the average population? All the great shows seem to get nipped in the bud way too soon.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Especially if they’re on FOX
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Which reminds me, I need to watch the last Fringe episode.
cisar - January 22, 2012
It figures. Fox killed off my favorite show 15 years ago: Space: Above and Beyond.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
It is hollywood, so it might be about time for a reboot.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Not true, my friend that suggested it was a girl, and she is pretty picky about her comedies.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
oh cool! that blows my theory then
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Although she is also the only person that I have ever heard wanting to buy a green man suit and not for sports related reasons.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
…….would you like to elaborate on that, or…?
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, she wanted it just because of the tv show. Now a days you see all sorts of color suits at sporting events. I think it a bad idea because they can show a little to much profile, and as I saw happen to green man a football game, may lure someones grandma into wanting to get a little too touchy feel….Pretty weird and inappropriate…Poor guy.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
OH, right I forgot that’s where it originated, right? Or at least became big – because of that show.
And wow…. that sounds… awkward as crap. And pretty uncomfortable.

Predmonton - January 22, 2012

Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
there is one where one of the guys wins a radio contest and gets to go take a shot for some money at a Flyers game. Hilarious!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Erat's comments
I heard that, too, and wondered whether I’d misheard it, as I was at the drive-thru getting Frosties at the time. Hard to imagine that he never noted that they do that, in all the games he’s played in Chicago over the years.
But hey, if it got him pumped, that works!
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
he just gets really into the national anthem and doesn’t notice most times
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Or it might just be like Tootoo hearing the boos gets him pumped.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Uh, Erat’s, uh, maybe not, uh, sure, uh, that, he was, uh, excited and, uh, maybe he, uh, meant to, uh, talk about the, uh, tv, uh, timout ovation.

Predmonton - January 22, 2012

davisca - January 22, 2012
I did talk to his childhood friend at the Philly game. Does that count for something?
Okay, so it was in English. But I did guess that the language they were speaking was Czech, and that had very little to do with the Erat and Jagr jerseys they were wearing.
Okay, so it had everything to do with the jersies.
(Hangs head in shame.)
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012

yeah it was a fairly long interview as well....
it was just aweful to hear the word “uh” every 3-5 seconds
Herzausstein - January 22, 2012
It gets painful.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Watching their second goal...
Big no-no to Colin Wilson.
davisca - January 22, 2012
(Also, Pekka probably should have stopped that, as it was a pretty easy shot, but even Gods make mistakes, I guess.)
davisca - January 22, 2012
speaking of God, big shout out to him for keeping the hawks plane in the air for a long time and getting them here late

Creeping Death - January 22, 2012

LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
I think heard they didn’t get in till like 2 maybe? Not sure though
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Yeah, they said 2am.
davisca - January 22, 2012
ok good! glad somebody else heard that too!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Yup. That must have sucked.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Impressive win.
Grizzledbear - January 22, 2012 via mobile

cisar - January 22, 2012
I think there were a lot of people singing along when they played “Mahna Mahna.” I think it would be fun to use that one regularly.
I also think that the solution to the anthem thing would be to ask fans to sing along. If they start in with their crap, we stop, reiterate that we’re going to sing along, and begin again.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Poor Sarah looked and sounded like she was having trouble hearing herself sing tonight. It is kind of disrespectful to the singer.
cisar - January 22, 2012
that it is
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
is is just me or are the things hawks fans do.... for slow people
National anthem they clap and yell. After they score a goal all they do is say duh duh duh, duh duh duh. Guess they probably flew in on the short plane
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012

it’s one of those songs that gets in my brain and makes me want to hit my head against something hard to get it out.
davisca - January 22, 2012
It makes me happy. Got in on iTunes after seeing the movie.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
I really want to see the movie – I’ve heard it’s great, and I LOVE Jason Segall.
davisca - January 22, 2012
It was great. Hurry before it’s off the big screen. Probably is still in the dollar theaters.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
uh
the wife and I don’t remember them playing mahna mahna at the game. There were the Yip Yips watching the phone, is that what you’re remembering?
Shawn Kehoe - January 22, 2012
Krazy Kyle played it on the organ
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Yep.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Snouths?
cisar - January 22, 2012
klein?!
Seriously guys who is that guys wearing the klein mask out on the ice. Everyone was shocked that was a goal cause pete was like “wait that went in the net?!”
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
where did all this goal scoring magic come from aswell??
Herzausstein - January 22, 2012
TIL:
The Predators know how to score more than 3 goals!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I wonder if the Preds players ever go through the Wendy’s drive through after the game just to say…..“Free frosties for everyone…..our treat……..with a game ticket that is.”
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Haha!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Seemed like half of Chicago came down to Nashville for the game tonight
Too bad they forgot to take their hockey team with them. :P
Seriously though, solid performance by the Preds tonight. I was amazed at the amount of red in the arena, but fortunately we didn’t give them a whole lot to cheer about. Klein put in another solid performance, and I liked what I saw from Yip. He skates hard and made some nice checks.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Considering the Hawks airplane adventure, maybe they should drive down with their fans next time. :D
Grizzledbear - January 22, 2012 via mobile
the game is being replayed on FSTN…. quick Dirk, put up a first period replay thread
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
If we hung around on this thread and commented the now-typical 1000+ comments, Dirk would get up and be stunned at the comment count on a post-game thread.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
And he would have to read all of them, right?
cisar - January 22, 2012
hahaha! that is true!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
I’m still here! Let’s PAR-TAY!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Thread party or Marty Party?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
To hell with it, let's have both!
davisca - January 22, 2012
It’s never a party without the Marty!
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I wish I had the Marty Party picture :(
That’s one of the few I haven’t saved yet.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I don't have it either :(
I do have this:
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
that was the best game of the year! glad I took my dad, uncle, brother and cousin to that one!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
I went to that one with Shadow! God, that was PHENOMENAL. Probably one of the best games I’ve EVER been to.
His face has so many emotions. I love it.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I brought my brother to that game. That game couldn’t have ended any more perfectly.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I lost my voice after that game. And I’m not one of those people who yells (despite my frequent use of caps during GDTs, haha).
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that happened to me in the playoffs last year. Seeing that Game 6 win was awesome. And the Sully goal was ridiculous!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
I had to ice down my arm after that game because of all the high 5’s ;)
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I was in my dorm room, cheering to myself :)
davisca - January 22, 2012
a beauty!
HERE
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Its true she was almost a mute but do was everyone and my hands killed me after that game
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
I liked the Dec 15th vs. Wings
I had 12 people there with me, including two who had never been to a hockey game before. I like it most because I was there for it :-) That CBJ game I didn’t even get to watch :-(
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that wings game was pretty epic. And the crowd was amazing.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I could have been sitting next to you the whole game and have never known it. The only game that I got to see while I was in NSH but worth every minute.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Aw, that sucks! I spent a little bit of extra money I had saved up and went to all of them. (Granted, the second Wings game, my dad’s buddy got us tickets.)
davisca - January 22, 2012
I was in 318
Rows H and J. really loud guy with a beard
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Big Ben?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Big Ben? like the clock tower in England?
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Nope the loud guy with a beard that paints stuff on his belly at Preds games.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
haha, I've seen him on the Megatron
not me. I just added a profile picture finally. this was actually taken after that same Wings game. Me and two of my sisters ran into Krazy Kyle in front of the pro shop after the game and got our picture with him.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Krazy Kyle helped out (musically) at my high school’s rendition of Our Town! My brother did behind the scenes stuff with him, and said he was awesome (but indeed rather Krazy).
davisca - January 22, 2012
I love what he does musically at the Preds games. It’s cool that he’s involved in community stuff too.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Yeah. When I went to the Avs game, I was really underwhelmed by their entertainment stuff during the game (specifically music). Their organist wasn’t NEARLY as talented as Krazy Kyle.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I was really thrilled to meet him
and get a picture with my sisters and I with him. Especially after such a memorable game.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
That is awesome, haha.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Oh yeah, it’s your profile picture! Very nice!
davisca - January 22, 2012
hehe, yeah
thanks :)
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
I should scan my picture with Paul Kariya in… I was 16, so I look REALLY young, and I look absolutely terrified, but it was one of the best moments of my life. I wonder if I have it on my computer up here…
davisca - January 22, 2012
sadly
I only know of Kariya by reputation from you all here at OTF. I didn’t know or care anything about any sports (after I lost interest in the Braves after the ‘94 strike) until I went to my first live Predators game. I think it was March 12th, against the Rangers (4-2 loss, I’ve hated the Rangers ever since) but I was hooked instantly. That’s awesome that you had your picture with a legend like him.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Oh man, Kariya is my all-time favorite player. Mostly I think cause he’s a little guy who got a lot of respect, but I loved him. It was so cool. My travel team was going to Nationals that year, and he asked me about it after my dad prompted me to tell him about it… I don’t even remember what he said, HA!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I want to move somewhere
where there is ice. somewhere where a 31 year old (or older by then) can learn to handle hockey gear. I at least learned to skate pretty well when I was young. I just want to learn with some other recreational old farts like me to play the game that I’ve grown to love over the last 3 years.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
They have a GREAT league IN Nashville – the CB League. They play at the SportsPlex (same rink where the Preds practice). If you’re ever thinking about moving to Nashville, you should check it out.
davisca - January 22, 2012
yeah, that's where I learned to skate
once a month on Homeschool Ice Skate Day we’d drive down the hour from Westmoreland. I later lived in Nashville, and went and skated there, but didn’t have the time and money to get equipment and start playing, since I was working and going to school. then 2 1/2 years ago I left Nashville.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Ah, okay. Yeah, that’s where I learned too! I played in the NYHL for a long time. Well, hopefully you’ll be able to actually play some day. It’s so much fun. I really miss it.
davisca - January 22, 2012
*edit...
It’s a men’s league for 30 and up, I believe. I know they have different levels, for brand new players up to guys like Danny Geoffrion (Blake’s dad), who still live in town and still play.
davisca - January 22, 2012
travel team.
cisar - January 22, 2012
Yep. I played girls’ travel hockey for two years in high school.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, intermissions at Wild games are just nothing. Dudes cleaning the ice, and silence as every one goes to the restrooms/concessions.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
that sucks
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
That’s awkward… I was wondering if I got spoiled by the excellent production of the Bridge.
davisca - January 22, 2012
From what I’ve seen on Center Ice, Buffalo is the same way.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Awkward?
davisca - January 22, 2012
So you are saying the Wild’s games aren’t that Wild?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
That’s disappointing :(
Or are we just the only arena that does what we do?
davisca - January 22, 2012
I’ve got a feeling, we’re one of a only a few. Everyone else is just boring I guess. ;)
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Speaking of boring, we have over 400 comments. Holy crap. And it’s almost 4AM my time… methinks it might be time for bed.
davisca - January 22, 2012
So you are saying that we are boring? I was personally waiting to hit 500.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Eh, okay, I can stick around for that. That’s worth it. Plus, it’s already 4… 30 more minutes is not going to make that much of a difference.
davisca - January 22, 2012
The Oilers and Flames both have some sort of intermission games, but nothing compared to the sumo hockey at the bridge…it was fantastic to watch. Actually the oilers play kind of like a giant game of memory on the ice during one of the intermissions.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Interesting!
I’ll be up in Edmonton one day… one of my “things” is that I want to see the Preds play in every arena in the NHL. So far I have two down (Bridge, Pepsi Center), 28 to go!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I went to an Avs game last year, from what I remember the Arena was in the middle of nowhere.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I felt like it kind of was too. HA, we were actually late to the game because my boyfriend missed one of the turns to get there… I missed the first goal, and was not pleased :P
davisca - January 22, 2012
I am sure that was probably the last thing that he wanted to do. There are not too many turns from Castle Rock to Denver, but those one way streets in Denver sometimes are confusing.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yep, it was one of the one-way streets haha. Nah, he wasn’t trying to be late, it was just one of those things that happened… I was a good girlfriend though – I didn’t b*tch and moan, because it wasn’t his fault (no matter how much I wanted to, lol).
davisca - January 22, 2012
Oh, and yeah, I think the theater teacher was good buddies with him, that’s why he came – but still, very cool.
davisca - January 22, 2012
It was college night, so my brother and I went as close as we could go, and I bet the last time I will ever be able to afford seats that close.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Where were you?
davisca - January 22, 2012
114 Row EE
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
WOW, nice!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Where were yours?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
For the College Night game? Um… I think 115, Row something… we were right against the back wall, though. Really fantastic seats.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I think 10 rows up center ice would probably be the best view.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
We’re almost at 400 comments, guys. Hahahaha. Can you imagine waking up in the morning and seeing that colossal number?!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I wanted to get lower bowl, but most of the people I went with were in thrift mode in early December. And I wanted to go to the game with 2 of my sisters, 2 of my brothers, my older brother’s wife, a friend from Johnson City and his girlfriend, my cousin (a michigan native and Wings fan, haha) my mom, her fiancee, and another friend. 318 is pretty good for upper bowl.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
I am sure that you will have more chances then I to get back to Nashville on a college night, and get cheap lower bowl seats.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
probably
but probably not for the rest of this season. Budget is pretty tight to drive there and back just for a game unless I can get together with some more people and split gas.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
it’s about 280 miles
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Closer than my 1,000! Man, sometimes I really wish I was closer to Nashville so I could go to more games.
davisca - January 22, 2012
1000 is closer than my 2,100. Although we probably get to see more Preds games then him since we (I’m assuming) live in/near hockey cities.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I’ve just resigned myself to the rivers of the Interwebz.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I just pay the $20 a month for gamecenter online instead of paying for cable, and since I am out of market, I can watch pretty much every game, except local and nationally televised games.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Nice. I’ve been debating doing that… cause of the random blackouts, I’m not sure if it’s worth it to buy it JUST for one team. It’s becoming more and more enticing though.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I end up watching a lot of other teams games, just because I have it.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Maybe that would be bad for me… cause I won’t get jack done… but at the same time, I’d probably do it anyway, so maybe I will. Do the blackouts infuriate you like they seem to infuriate others?
davisca - January 22, 2012
They only blackout when the Preds play the Flames, Oilers, and two other single games Rangers and Montreal, so far for me.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Okay. Huh. Maybe I’ll just do it, then. I just got paid on Friday, so I have the money. I probably wouldn’t want to do full year, cause that’s gonna go into the summer and be too much for too few games, but I could do month by month.
davisca - January 22, 2012
You have to do full year.
cisar - January 22, 2012
I didn't realize this before
but I’m actually closer to Raleigh. only 240 miles (but not as fast of roads through the mountains) I could go catch Canes games (if I want to see a team lose)
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that’s a pretty good haul.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
but you're right
it’s doable, but I probably need to blow off Friday classes if I’m gonna do it.
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
Which can be occasionally acceptable.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I wasn’t very nice to Hawks fans tonight. I pointed to some around us during the “Hey” chant. This one guy looked dejectedly at me, expecting it by 4-1. I also walked by the mini pro-shop as some Hawks fans were headed in, and asked whether they were going to buy a Preds jersey.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
That is good-natured ribbing. It’s not like you were dumping beer on them.
cisar - January 22, 2012
I am sure they would have shown you the same kind heartedness if you were in Chicago.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I’m not so sure about that, lol.
davisca - January 22, 2012
The clip of Klein’s goal is labelled a “must-see” at nhl.com.
They show add “Crawford sucks!”
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Also, this: Predators whip Hawks, tighten Central race
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Hell yeah we did.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Almost surprised they didnt go with preds lynch hawks. You know how they love to come up with “interesting” titles
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
They’re… creative!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Zetterberg got tossed from the Wings game tonight on the softest boarding penalty I’ve seen. He just touches the guy’s back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg5lnZtTOcI&feature=player_embedded#!
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Uh.... that seems sketchy.
I mean, it’s almost a protective gesture, in the sense that he’s orienting the guy and himself… does that make sense at all or am I talking crazy? I feel like definitely wasn’t his fault though. It looked like Nikitin lost an edge.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Oh yeah, Nikitin definitely lost his edge there. Hardly any contact from Zetterberg. At least not enough to make a NHL caliber skater go hard into the boards.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I’m sure that it will be rescinded.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yeah, and plus, it’s Zetterberg. I hate the Wings, but Henrik Zetterberg is an upstanding, classy player.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I think most of the wings are classy minus Abdelkader and Bertuzzi.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
It’s like I don’t even know you.
cisar - January 22, 2012
Well maybe I have just watch to many Ducks and Vancouver games? Just saying most of the wings aren’t dirty players. When we play the Ducks I constantly worry about Preds players getting hurt.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Kronwall can be kind of a pain sometimes, too.
I hate the team, but respect most of the players.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I never said that I root for the team. My Fantasy Hockey team has ZERO Red Wings.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Oh, no, I don’t root for them either. Ha, I could BARELY myself to have Marian Hossa on my fantasy team.
davisca - January 22, 2012
*edit button
I could barely bring myself… and that was only because I desperately needed a player.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, mine was D. Sedin, I had 5th pick and had to take him.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Zetterberg will probably get a hand written apology from Bettman tomorrow, along with a stack of “get out of the box free” cards.
And just the mention of the name Abdelkader makes me mad. Can’t stand that guy.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Someone said he looks like an Applebee's waiter.
He totally does.

davisca - January 22, 2012
Hahaha
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
“What kind of cheese would you like on your burger, sir?”
davisca - January 22, 2012
gouda
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
Gouda choice.
davisca - January 22, 2012
how many pieces of flair do you think he wears on his suspenders?
robjustice - January 22, 2012
Oh, so many.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Holy crap!
The Hawks have only 13 home games left!
And after the ASG break, they have a NINE game road trip!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Yeah, look at the teams they have played so far minus the month of Sept, and look the teams they still have to play. Much harder second half.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
WOW. Sucks for them!
davisca - January 22, 2012
ya and they are like 10-9-2 on the road :)
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Wings are not very good on the road either.
They are awesome at home though. I just can’t believe how many of their games have gone to OT/SO in the last 11 games or so. It is like they are taunting me.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Can't believe there are this many comments.
I am at work and I am normally alone on here overnight. I guess everybody is giddy from the win.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
My sleep schedule's gotten screwed up recently, so it's 2:30AM here and I'm still poking around.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Those late night Colorada ski-stravaganzas?
cisar - January 22, 2012
That sounds like fun, this 60 degrees in January is messed up.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
I wish I got to go skiing :( unfortunately none
davisca - January 22, 2012
Did you go to an Avs game?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yes, vs. the Preds!! It was awesome.
davisca - January 22, 2012
So were you there for the BF or really just a good excuse to catch another Preds game.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
…..shh.
Both :)
davisca - January 22, 2012
Nope, just staying up really late because I stupidly got caught up watching a really good TV show the other night and was up until about 3:45.
davisca - January 22, 2012
What show?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Is it on Netflix?
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Dovoluji si navrhnout, jdete na webové stránky s názvem “Motion Říše” a zadejte “Sherlock”. Funguje to pro mě!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Tack!
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Jste vítáni.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Cítím se špatně dotvarování smrt, doufám, že se nenechal kvůli nám?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Nevím. Myslím, že byl unavený. My jsme blázni, také :D
davisca - January 22, 2012
Je sice pravda, ale jsme se po herní závit na další úroveň. Weber je gril je úžasné, jen proto, že je mezi jeho vousy.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Ano, my jsme blázni. Ulehnutím ke spánku. Jsme nit vládci, dnes večer, ano. Zde je pro nás, a ty jako my!
cisar - January 22, 2012
Na zdraví!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Chci udělat další GDT vše v českém, ale myslím, že dostane naštvaný. Gril Weber reklama je velmi zábavné poslouchat a dívat se. Stýská se mi po Weber brady – Doufám, že jeho nový roste brzy.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Ruce vzhůru všichni jíst vránu tam předpovědi Klein.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Kdo by si myslel, Klein by si vydělal první hvězda?
davisca - January 22, 2012
Jo, líbí se mi tento web a nechtějí, aby Dirk šílený během GDT.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Já taky ne. Pojďme se stačí použít “tato”, který znamená “tato”!
davisca - January 22, 2012
otec nemá rád, když si po potoků
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Neprocházejí přes potoky. Neříkejte otci.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Tato!
cisar - January 22, 2012
To je dobré slovo vědět. Využijme, že příští GDT a mást lidi.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Just caught the first episode. Very well done. I like how they took a classic Sherlock Holmes case and kept the premise intact but changed the details to keep it fresh.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Nice!! I’m glad you like it! It’s well done. I love how they brought him into the 21st century, and did it perfectly!
davisca - January 22, 2012 via Android app
Oh, and on the premise thing, they do that with multiple cases, like the Hound of Baskerville in the second season.
davisca - January 22, 2012 via Android app
You just get up?
cisar - January 22, 2012
Haha. I wish. I actually got up at 9:30 this morning. My roommate’s dog was barking at my neighbor as he was snow-blowing his driveway, and I couldn’t get back to sleep after that.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Been wondering how it was. May have to go watch it tomorrow. Monday and tuesday games are going to be interesting hopefully we play better in our second game then the hawks did
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Oh, it’s fantastic. The main guy, Benedict Cumberbatch, is in Tinker Tailor, actually. He’s also going to be the voice of Sauron and Smaug in the Hobbit, and is the villain in the new Star Trek. The guy who plays Watson is Bilbo himself!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Cue the Leonard Nimoy Bilbo Baggins song!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Oh god… no, Tolkien spent MORE than enough time writing songs. NO MORE HOBBIT SONGS. Please.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Haha, yeah, I always skip past those in the books.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Seriously. Holy crap. I see a song and I’m like, ooookay flipflipflipflipflipflipfli-oh, it’s over.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I rather read John Galt’s speech about twelve more times.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
I have a friend who enjoys reading them, but I can’t figure out for the life of me WHY. He says they’re etherial and lyrical and something… blah blah. He’s probably right, in a technical sense, buuuuut I just kinda told him that’s awesome, and all the more unnecessary Tolkien-poem-reading for him!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I forgot, off to ski with SOB?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Haha, no just off to visit my boyfriend. I think the skiing thing just came up as an association with Colorado… there was no skiing. I did get to go to the Preds/Avs game where we won 4-1, though! That was awesome.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Does he live in Denver?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Pretty much. He lives in Castle Rock, which isn’t too far away.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Imagine working night shift.
I work 4 10 hour shifts. My first day off is almost always spent sleeping.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Welcome to my world!
I work 4 10s and work nights!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
I like it for some reasons. I would take it over working early mornings.
It actually allows me to see my kids more than most conventional shifts.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I don’t have kids, so it works for me. Plus I work from home.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
That is cool.
The main problem for me is switching back to “Day Shift” on my days off.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Yeah, you either have to stay up or get up “early”.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
What normally ends up happening to me is I sleep until like 5 or 6 PM and then stay up until 11 PM. Then I get up at like 3 or 4 AM on my other days off. It is pretty crazy. If I can plan something to do on the first day off it is not too bad. If I don’t have anything to do, I am out.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I usually sleep right after my shift, so it’s like 6:30-7 AM to around 2-3 PM I’m sleeping.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
ill join that party
I love nights just hate its fri-mon though
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
LOL.
Mine is Thurs-Sun.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Mine’s odd. My nights off are Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Do you like that or would you rather have 3 in a row?
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
It’s ok. Working one day by itself is kinda dumb. I liked when I have 2-1-2-2 shift. I think that was Sun-Mon ON, Tue OFF, Wed-Thurs ON, Fri-Sat OFF. Something like that.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Where were the 45% Hawks fans? I wasn’t there, but watching the replay I saw pockets of them, but nowhere near 45%. I would say it looked more like 20%. I think the red sticks out and makes it look like there are more of them than their actually are. We have the problem now of Gold/Blue/White. When more people get the gold jerseys I think it will be pretty impressive. Unless the 300 level was 75% Hawks fans, I don’t think it was that bad. Even 20% is a lot in your arena though.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Apparently it was 45%, but that seemed like a LOT to me.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that is what Stu Grimson said on the radio.
I don’t buy it.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Maybe you misheard him and he really said that Hawks fans bought 45% of the alcohol?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
That also seems realistic.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I could see that. Let them buy it up, more money to pay players with!
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
my buddy said there were like 2500 to 3000 of them there
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
I was at the game and I’d believe probably 33% Hawks fans. I’ve never seen an opposing team have such a showing at the arena, not even the Red Wings.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I could believe 33%.
That is still a LOT of opposing fans.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
15%
But they were loud. I know, hard to believe.
cisar - January 22, 2012
PfPP said they were all drunk and annoying. He is just annoying
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
I wouldn’t say they were all drunk
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
eye count is really hard, but to me it looked like 4,000 – 5,000 and definitely the most enemy fans I’ve seen in our building
el pucko - January 22, 2012 via Android app
i'd say
60/40 Preds to Hawks fans. there were a f-ton of hawks fans there last night. a lot in the lower bowls and large pockets in the upper.
Shawn Kehoe - January 22, 2012
No way.
And you could tell by the loudness after their goal compared to our goalsssss.
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
Not even close to 45%
I’d say 15-20%.
The upper bowl was about 10% red.
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
Check out this photo of the Costa Concordia from space:
HERE!
cisar - January 22, 2012
um.... seriously, how do you let the ship get that close to land.
good lord. that captain is an idiot.
davisca - January 22, 2012
uh cause he was wining and dining that cute little blonde girl on the ship… he wanted to dock his ship and forgot he was supposed to be driving the boat
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
Hahaha
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
She says he is a hero...
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
oh i thought that said he was winning at first, like....
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
That's a fantastic image.
Oh Charlie Sheen, you crazy, crazy little man.
davisca - January 22, 2012
its funny
But it looks as if you could photoshop that but jezz is this funny. Not the fact of what happened but the photo its self is such a funny shot cause it shows how big that ship really is
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
The clouds kind of throw you off, perspective-wise.
cisar - January 22, 2012
Now the recap is getting bogged down.
I think this is the first time that has happened to me. Dirk is going to love this.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
haha! we have had a bunch of comments tonight!
Creeping Death - January 22, 2012
243
Comments after a hawks game recap…thats what 240 more then a cbj gdt?
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Bazinga!
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
And 241 more than a Coyotes gdt. :P
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Just saw this on Puck Daddy
What won’t Don wear?
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
What…. the frick…. is that….
Is he a… a pirate?? The owner of a 17th century brothel?? An English Lord?
davisca - January 22, 2012
a judge? Don't they wear something like that in Canada?
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Speaking of Don Cherry...
Check out this website.
davisca - January 22, 2012
That was fun.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Good, eh?
davisca - January 22, 2012
Maybe he’s the villain in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
The puffy shirt.
cisar - January 22, 2012
The one where Jack Sparrow gets a concussion and Cherry calls him a puke?
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that’s the one!!
davisca - January 22, 2012
lol nice
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
Maybe he just thought hey if I am going to play piano again up here tonight, I might as well dress like Liberace, Elton John, or Bach.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Or, all three at once!!
davisca - January 22, 2012
That’s fairly plain for Grapes. He’s ready to entertain royalty circa 1700s.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
It’s the broach that kills me!
davisca - January 22, 2012
And the diamond shaped buttons all over the jacket. Reminds me of Betty from Kung Pow
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I haven’t seen that, haha, but I’ll take your word for it. From a cursory google search, it seems like that would exist in that movie.
davisca - January 22, 2012
And by the way, here's one of the first images that popped up.
Nice.

davisca - January 22, 2012
Haha, the movie is really stupid, but if you’re drinking and with friends its hilarious.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
I can TOTALLY believe that.
Like Troll 2. Which has absolutely no trolls in it, and is not actually a sequel (as far as I know).
davisca - January 22, 2012
im still waiting for the sequel…
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
Shouldn’t they be on, like, 6 or 7 by now? Halloween did it; why not Kung Pow?!
davisca - January 22, 2012
is that the puffy shirt from seinfeld?
robjustice - January 22, 2012
BTW, I feel weird having like nothing to do right now.
Since I just finish 3 months of Visual Basic classes and tons of work for that. Now all I have left is a final project with a team of 4 and that’s creating 2 websites (easy in comparison!)
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
I expect that’s what I’ll feel like next year when I finish grad school…. “No papers? Really? Are you sure?”
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yep, this is it too, in one month I’m done with my BSIT program. I’m not really interested in a Masters.
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
MIS major?
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
Time to retire for the evening...
you guys have a good one!
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 22, 2012
You too! Nice chatting with you all... morning?
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, have a good one, hope that the geo is going well.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
This thread is ridiculously long.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I can’t operate in the small comment boxes up there anymore.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Me neither. It’s too late, and I’m too tired to squint. Screwit.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I think that you can always cancel if you don’t like it, although, you might also wait until after the all star break :)
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Oh, true. WAIT. Is the All Star game in Former-Versus?! Crap, cause I won’t be able to see that!
davisca - January 22, 2012
I just meant because there will not be many games.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I do like the draft format though
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Kind of hope Kessel gets pick again last this year, just because my roommate is a huge leafs fan.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Also because it would be hilarious if it happened twice in a row.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yep, I can’t believe Reimer almost got voted in.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yeah, the voting for the ASG really pisses me off. Sorry, but some of the guys do NOT deserve to be there! Just because you’ve done well historically doesn’t mean that you’re guaranteed an “in” to the ASG.
davisca - January 22, 2012
cough Carey Price cough
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
No kidding.
Dion Phaneuf seems kinda out of place, too… but maybe it’s just cause I don’t like him.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Me too! It changes it up a little bit, which is nice.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Please let Suter be there.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Seriously. I wonder what happened to him?? Did you ever seen anything that seemed sketchy and full of danger/injury?
davisca - January 22, 2012
Somebody said Rinaldo hit him along the boards.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I wonder if I can find a clip of that. I hope he’s back soon. I feel like we usually have SOME idea of what it is, but I don’t think anyone has the slightest cluse.
davisca - January 22, 2012
How many injuries besides flu that we have actually had a clue about lately?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Or, just like speculation, I guess. Like we don’t know for sure, but we’ve been able to guess. I can’t think off the top of my head right now, but I feel like there’s something… Oh, like Fisher maybe? I can’t remember. It’s late. I may or may not be able to back up that statement tomorrow, after some sleep haha.
davisca - January 22, 2012
LOL
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Okay, 22 more! Should we plan this, so we both say goodbye at exactly 499 and 500? LOL
davisca - January 22, 2012
Perfect, you can have the 500
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Cool beans.
davisca - January 22, 2012
We’re at 494 (counting this comment).
davisca - January 22, 2012
I wish I could see the look on Dirk’s face in the morning.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
That is a lot of comments.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
499 – Yes, it is! I wish I could too haha. You get comment 500!! Nighty night! It’s been fun!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yep, Dobrou noc
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Dobrou noc, Predmonton.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I looked for how Boullion got hurt earlier, and I couldn’t find it. His last shift was Hossa’s first goal.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Huh. That’s weird. I dunno… maybe he tweaked an earlier injury?
davisca - January 22, 2012
My right wrist is shot to hell, and though it’s normally fine, sometimes it flares up unexpectedly (like when I picked up my notebook yesterday) and I can’t move it at all.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Usually happens to me with school work as well. Pick up my notebook, and then suddenly my hand can’t write :)
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Amazing, eh??
davisca - January 22, 2012
Too many minutes for the old man?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Possibly. Frankie doesn’t worry me as much as he does others, I think. I like how feisty he is.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Who doesn’t like a good feisty Frenchman…cough cough Bourque :)
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Oh, he is from QC, isn’t he? I didn’t know that! Bourque is awesome, he’s been a massive surprise!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Just have to get him to score.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
True. But I think he out-hustles Hustlechuk! I can’t remember which game it was… vs. Colorado maybe? But I remember seeing this play where the other Dman was going for the puck against the boards, and he just shot up, BARELY poked the puck away, and took it in for a SOG.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Really if anyone should be a honey badger it is Bourque…he is relentless.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
He really is. He DON’T give a damn. I think he’s probably the hardest forechecker I’ve ever seen. And he’s doing so consistently, too.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that’s true too. But now I’m worried about the All-Star game! Will I be able to watch it?! I don’t want to watch it on my shitty computer… maybe I’ll just change the cable package for one month.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Hahaha
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
I know we're so close to 500, but I'm not sure I can make it...
My computer is dying, slowly but surely…
davisca - January 22, 2012
How many are we short?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Almost
davisca - January 22, 2012
Exactly
davisca - January 22, 2012
50.
davisca - January 22, 2012
How many minutes does your comp have left?
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Maybe this team is better than last year?
Take out the rough start with all the kiddies, maybe Poile will be right!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
I always have faith in that man. He seems like he is just trying to frustrate you, but he really always has a plan.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Exactly. I’ve learned to just trust him. He’s like a parent… you think he’s an idiot at first, but the longer you wait and the older you get, the more you realize he knows what he’s doing.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I really want someone to write an article later in the season, about the players we let walk away this year, vs. the rookies/ younger guys that took over their roles.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that would be really interesting. Because I think there are probably some fair comparisons. It’d be informative, too. Silence all the “FIRE POILE!” people, hopefully, too.
davisca - January 22, 2012
Besides SOB, I think we came out okay. I remember how gloomy the summer felt, and then Weber’s arbitration squished all the good that was left.
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
This is 496.
Yes, I really miss SOB still. The whole Weber thing was scary…
davisca - January 22, 2012
I said YIKES when Weber got undressed like that by Hossa
And then Hossa did again!!!!!!!
TSCinSFO - January 22, 2012
Geez, pulling the fire alarm at 4am after the Hawks had a late flight and a back to back REALLY works!
Glad the Preds took full advantage of it. And that crowd! Wow!
TSCinSFO - January 22, 2012
Haha!
The crowd sounded AMAZING.
davisca - January 22, 2012
I had to work....But watched EVERY second
I could feel the energy through the TV. Really got annoyed at all my friends texting me bout all the HOT Chicago girls wearing leggins abd getting drunk as F………
TSCinSFO - January 22, 2012
Goodnight
Predmonton - January 22, 2012
Goodnight!
davisca - January 22, 2012
Just read the SCH GDTs
END RANT.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
Yeah, swearing is OK with me when it’s not a childish thing like 10 in a row. Not saying they are babies at SCH, just they can do better. I know many over there that are wittier than that!
DonBorvio - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I saw you over there.
You were civil and a few of them were, but it was pretty juvenile.
Josiah2729 - January 22, 2012
500+ comments on a game recap?
Nicely done, people.
Marcus Newman - January 22, 2012
Looks like there was an after hours party here
last nightthis morning and we missed it.Griz-ATL - January 22, 2012
It was memorable, and most of it was in Czech.
davisca - January 22, 2012 via Android app
once again, sucks to be stuck in the Central!!!
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
I would say the building was 25% tops Hawks fans not 45%! Of course they’re annoying as hell but no so much last night! For those who think were alright without Suter – here is my take from last night. Weber had to play 29 minutes and with Cube out the 5 man rotation was a scramble to say the least. Caught a tired Hawks team at the right time.
Pekka was a little shaky and the game changes if the Hawks don’t ring two shots off the post and crossbar. IMO this team will not win consistently if either Suter or Weber leave.
Both players are that much better and BTW on Hossa’s first goal Shea skate caught something and he was off balance from the get go.
virgil trucks - January 22, 2012
+1
And 25% if generous.
And every time a team gets their a$$e$ kicked they blame it on being tired. Teams get that all the time. We crused them tonight, and in our defense, Pekka had a terrible game. Shoulda been 5-0.
Hawks are good, but not that good.
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
I dont buy the tried notion one bit they all grew up playing and have spent years training for an 82 game season. You might be a step slower but once that adrenalin kicks in you are not tired. You might be sluggish but not tired
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
A convenient excuse that always gets thrown out there.
Pekka for Predator Pontiff - January 22, 2012
Exactly. Most of us played sports when we were young and ive done different sports on the same weekend so youll play 5 or 6 games. Yeah your exhausted when you get home but for the games your ready to go
Shadow23 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Oh man, I remember there was one hellish week in high school when I had a game Wednesday, practice Thursday, and a game Friday for high school, 2 games Saturday and 1 game Sunday in Chicago for travel, and practice on Monday and a game Wednesday for high school. I think I slept for about 72 hours after it was all said and done, hahaha.
davisca - January 23, 2012 via Android app
What position were you? We know you weren’t a stat-at-home defenseman.
cisar - January 23, 2012
er…. stay.
cisar - January 23, 2012
It depended on whether it was high school or travel.
High school I was very much a stay-at-home D because I didn’t want to get killed. I’m small, and was playing against guys who had 10" and +50lbs. on me. Travel, I had much more “Josi-like tendencies,” haha… I really liked to carry the puck into the offensive zone, and I was usually able to avoid turning it over because I learned to move very quickly in high school to avoid getting murdered (there’s no hitting in girl’s travel).
davisca - January 23, 2012
(Oh, and I guess I played forward in travel intermittently. Mostly it was on the PP, but also sometimes if we someone was missing that weekend.)
davisca - January 23, 2012
In all fairness, it was not only a back-to-back, but their plane got in at 2’ish. They probably weren’t in bed ‘till 3. But we were without Suter, and were down to five defensivemen went Bouillon went out. I’d say those factors probably were at least close to having equal impact.
LuvthePreds - January 22, 2012
Yea, that sucks. Not to mention that even something like getting into bed at 3am can just throw off your routine and make you feel weird… and EVERYTHING in hockey on game day is about routine.
davisca - January 23, 2012 via Android app
About Hossa's first goal...
Oh well :( good thing it doesn’t happen often!
davisca - January 22, 2012
damn, we've got the next Terry Crisp right here at OtF!!
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
Yep, forwards have got to make sure Hossa doesn’t build up that much speed going into the zone.
Stormyt - January 22, 2012
Thanks! That's quite high praise :)
I think there are some things that are difficult to notice, or look for (or you wouldn’t think to think about) without playing experience. It isn’t impossible without it, obviously, but I think knowing the situation can be helpful. (Here, for instance, it was about the feeling, motion, range, and speed involved in skating transitions; otherwise, it does look a bit like Weber catches his skate, or something.)
davisca - January 23, 2012
I’m excited for Klein, and happy he had such a good game. For someone who gets a lot of criticism (which i think is due to people blowing his mistakes out of proportion) he’s really taken a big step from last year and I think he hasn’t peaked yet. Maybe he got bit by a radioactive spider or something and that’s why he was sick for a bit and then came back like a BOSS!
JBoogie22 - January 22, 2012
I approve coming back like a boss
+1
Shawn Kehoe - January 22, 2012
Yip
Avs fan here, I know ya’ll are excited for Yip, just don’t get overly excited. He can be a fairly good player, but his work ethic is the problem. If Trotz can get him to actually work hard (and play defense, hah) then he may be alright. Honestly, I don’t think he really fits in with the whole defense first motto, but I hope all goes well for him. If he works out for you guys, great, and good luck in the playoff race.
ProfessorOak - January 22, 2012
i think we're figuring out where he fits in with the team right now...
a lot of us think we got him so that we could send some of our young guys back to the AHL team for some more seasoning. He’s probably not going to be seeing a whole lot of minutes…
