On those in-game interviews, I’m with you Dirk. Dump them. Hate them. Useless. As a former reporter, I love access – but not during the game.

The in-game interviews annoy me, too. I don’t want to hear what the coach has to say – let him do his job and don’t interrupt him! You wouldn’t interrupt a teacher in the middle of, say, a math lesson to ask him/her how well the kids seem to be understanding the material. It’s rude and distracting. Leave the coaches alone.

About Ovechkin
I was reading the reactions at Jasper’s (Japer’s?) Rink on his suspension, and the overwhelming conclusion seemed to be that it was an unfair and unwarranted suspension. I found that odd because he clearly LEAPT at the guy, and you are not allowed to LEAP at people (see the Kronwall hit and subsequent suspension on whoever the Blackhawk was a few years ago), but I’m going off on a tangent. Anyway, the fans were also calling for Ovie to decline the ASG to “send a message” (“stupid suspension” and “Shanahan screwed the Caps”). Maybe I’m just over-hyping the whole thing, but I can’t believe Ovechkin turned this down. It makes him seem like a 5 year old.

Ovi loves the ASG. Was a sacrifice to pass, but it didn’t seem right to play since he’s under suspension. And yeah, he’s pissed at the suspension. Japers Rink folks are upset because three games is too much, and Michalek got nothing for flagrant elbow to Hendicks’ head. And because they’ve seen this before with Ovi.
I think his attitude has been fine. It’s his game that could use a jump. Last few weeks have been good – he may hit 40 goals. He misses Backstrom. And the team misses Green big-time. Much more to this soap opera. I think this team will be a mover at the trade deadline.

Yeah, I heard about the missed suspension from the elbow. Still doesn’t mean that Ovie DIDN’T deserve his suspension.
