In this afternoon's public practice at A-Game Sportsplex, Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber returned to on-ice work with the team as he continues his recovery from a concussion suffered on December 23rd in Dallas. He is participating in drills alongside his teammates, and while we don't know when he'll be ready for game action, this is certainly a positive step.
Colin Wilson is also out there, but in a non-contact jersey. He has missed the last two games with an unspecified upper-body injury.
Check back later for further updates to this story, following post-practice press availability.
Update: Follow after the jump for quotes and reaction from around the locker room to Shea's return to practice:

It was a special day at A-Game sportsplex in Franklin today. Predators fans from Williamson County and other areas south of Nashville got to come out and watch the Preds practice as well as get autographs afterwards.
But fans were treated to an extra surprise today when defenseman Shea Weber took the ice for practice - the first time Weber has skated with the team since he left the team's morning skate on December 26th.
Weber wore a regular blue practice jersey like his defensive partner Ryan Suter, indicating that he was indeed cleared for some sort of contact.
"It was good," center Mike Fisher said about Weber's return to practice. "He seemed to be moving pretty well out there. He looked good. It's a great sign for sure."
"Whenever you lose a guy like that, and then he comes back, it's definitely a positive thing," defenseman Ryan Suter said. "Hopefully we can continue to produce like we did before."
But the exact date on Weber's return to game action is still up in the air. Head coach Barry Trotz said that even though Weber felt good at practice today, there was still no timetable for his return.
"It's when he feels comfortable," Trotz said. "When he feels that he's ready to go, he'll come and let us know. Between the doctors, the trainers, Shea, they'll make that decision."
Weber's return to practice was a good sign for a blueline that has relied heavily on as many as three rookie defensemen in recent games.
Throughout practice, Weber looked relieved to be back on the ice. He was smiling and joking with his teammates, as well as giving fans in attendance something to cheer about.
"I know the fans had some fun," Trotz said. "I was sort of chuckling. There were some kids behind the net, and when he teed up a couple and he missed the net, they came right at [the kids] and they were all hootin' and hollering."
The team did not make Weber available to the media after practice.

Wow he must be fine if they put him in a full-contact jersey

Marc also tweeted that Weber caught Erat on a rush and shoved him off the puck, so yeah, definitely a nice development here.
Dirk Hoag - January 3, 2012
Pushed him pretty hard too.
What jersey is full contact?

is red no contact?
Josiah2729 - January 3, 2012 via Android app
I believe the Sedin colored jersey is no contact.
Stormyt - January 3, 2012
Unless you’re Tim Thomas.
davisca - January 3, 2012
Colin’s was a maroon-ish color.
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
Yeah I realized that after I posted...
but couldn’t get the app to show any comments afterwards.
Josiah2729 - January 4, 2012
he was all smiles
Looked good and seemed to be doing well moving around. Also showed spalls how to cross check and ride the stick up into the head

Please come back in time to knock Fistric out on Thursday.
thewildfop - January 3, 2012
Yes.
PLEASE!
moxxx - January 3, 2012
I told McGrattan to get Fistric good...
he laughed.
Josiah2729 - January 4, 2012
Apparently Fistric took out a linesman too with a concussion. That a-hole is dangerous.
DonBorvio - January 4, 2012
Good stuff.
May have been precautionary beforehand anyways. In 24/7, Giroux was out for a few days just because they were still testing. Seems like they assume you have a concussion until proven otherwise.
Poiju - January 3, 2012
Don't yell at me though.
I know he was out for a reasonably decent amount of time. Just an observation.
Poiju - January 3, 2012
Also, apparently Weber did win the Norris!

LOL
DonBorvio - January 3, 2012
Wow! Also called Weber “impending unrestricted free agent.”
Marc Torrence - January 3, 2012
just goes to show you just how much the writers at NHL.com pay attention to our team
the one person that they sit there and drool over and they can’t even get the facts correct…. sigh… should be used to the neglect by now though. Has anyone noticed that everytime there’s something having to do with the Predators on nhl.com there’s another link close by saying how awesome weber is?
Herzausstein - January 3, 2012
and do they mean
pending? Impending doom is maybe right for this franchise, but maybe not, either way, pending or impending?
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 3, 2012
also
the story I heard was that Weber was in FULL CONTACT GOLD!!!! :-)
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 3, 2012
He had on navy and switched to white, neither of which is no-contact (a deep red).
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
its the opposite of Star Trek here where the Red guy always gets killed, here we protect him
Shadow23 - January 3, 2012
It probably means that Trotz will spill your blood if you hit him.
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
his neck opens up to a cannon firing pucks at Shea Weber speed with targeting lock on them
Shadow23 - January 3, 2012
it was kind of a joke.
they practiced 5 hours from where I live :-( (well 4 really unless you’re going the speed limit, but who’s counting)
Only Fan In J.C. ? - January 4, 2012
If his "War Beard" was fully armed and operational this injury nonsense would have never occurred
901predfan - January 3, 2012
He also apparently is going to be a UFA instead of an RFA
harriskb - January 3, 2012
that is what i was thinking. He still has one year left of RFA but i could be totally wrong.
Shadow23 - January 3, 2012
Dallas and Detroit in a close one. Everyone repeat after me: finish it in regulation. Finish it in regulation. Finish it in regulation.
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
Lehtonen has allowed 5 in the first 32 minutes. Every time Dallas pulls within one, Detrot scores again.
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
Why do they still show the Thrashers logo when you enter thrashers.nhl.com? (You get redirected to this site: http://www.philipsarena.com/Resources/GeneralInfo/Thrashers_Update.htm)
LuvthePreds - January 3, 2012
Oops...parentheses messed up the link
