Nick Spaling congratulates Sergei Kostitsyn on the latest honor to come his way.

Last week saw different Nashville Predators stand out in each game, leaving about 10 guys capable of being considered for our weekly honor. When one Pred gets a hat trick, however, that tips the scales in his favor, so Sergei Kostitsyn is your latest OTF Hero Of The Week.

Sunday's game against Calgary was a New Year's party for Nashville Predators fans, and SK74's hat trick was a highlight of the season, even if the last goal was an empty-net tap-in that anybody outside of Craig Smith could have scored (it'll take a while for the rookie to live that one down).

While pretty much most of the team laid an egg Thursday against Dallas, Kostitsyn also made a nice play to help set up Shea Weber's opening goal last night against Carolina, tying him for the team lead with 4 points on the week, along with Patric Hornqvist (2 goals & 2 assists) and Mike Fisher (4 assists).

So congrats, Sergei, now let's just see you build on this success and shoot the puck a whole lot more!

Yes, the OTF-HOTWeek.

Dirk, I know it hurt you to do that.

I don’t dislike the guy, I’ve just been skeptical ever since people got so wound up over his goal-scoring last season. Many observers look at a season like and assume that a young player will only move onward & upward from there, and of course Barry Trotz about getting him to shoot more.

Instead, he’s shot even less this year. I’d love to see that switch get flipped, but I’m guessing it won’t. Decent 2nd-line winger, very good 3rd-line winger, but a poor top-line one.

I know your reasoning...

just had to give you a hard time. At least you had the guts to do it.

Come on!

He’s a Top 3 forward! Just like Nick Spaling is a Top 6 forward!

"even if the last goal was an empty-net tap-in that anybody outside of Craig Smith could have scored"

I liked how in the program from the Carolina game, they had a section asking players what they had learned from being in the NHL and Craig Smith’s response was “Don’t miss an empty net”. or something similar.

Haha! That's funny.

Poor Honey Badger.

Anybody but Kostitsyn!

I don’t know what his work ethic is like at practice or in the offseason, but he gets my vote for laziest guy on the ice during games.

Way to go SK74!

He’s got a pretty shot when he makes them. Maybe more not-so-subtle insults from Mark Howard are what he needs?
