The NHL trading season is only starting to percolate, but in Canadian junior, things are well underway. Our afternoon hockey notes begin with news that Nashville Predators prospect Austin Watson has been traded today, the second time he's been moved in the last couple seasons.
Follow after the jump for that, plus a tremendous honor going to one of the Preds' familiar faces...

The Preds' 1st round draft choice from 2010 has been traded between Canadian junior teams once again, as he goes from Peterborough to London for a shot at winning the Memorial Cup. Two seasons ago, he was traded from Windsor to Peterborough late in the season, so missed out on winning one with Ryan Ellis, Cam Fowler, and the rest of that stacked 2010 Spitfires lineup.

David Poile has said all along that the Preds would be better in the 2nd half of the season than the first, but can all these kids mature that quickly?

The best part about the Puck Daddy article on Wayne Simmonds was the first comment in the comments section.
I can’t help myself. I laughed.

There is life after Ryan Suter and Weber
Especially if Ryan Ellis develops like his counterpart Karlsson drafted a year earlier. Karlsson has been lights out in his 3rd year, and yesterday went +5 with 2 points, lining up against Claude Giroux’s line.
There was good reason to send Ellis down (save a year on his RFA/UFA status), There are probably just as good reason for keeping the kid up this year, especially since the Preds may have need of his offensive skills after the trade deadline.

SOB being out is good news for us- he’s been a really solid player for the Avs. Actually, wasn’t he a solid player for the Preds too?

Outside of the occasional penchant for going to the penalty box, he was solid for us. We miss him on D, no doubt about it.

I really wish he was still playing for us.

During the first few games of the Ducks series I thought he was going to lose the series for the Preds.

Good thing Barry gave him a talking to, cause he straightened up pretty fast.

London, Ontario :P
What I hate is that there’s an Ontario, CA and Ontario, Canada.
