Notice anything missing in that snapshot of NHL.com from this morning? We witnessed one of the most remarkable comebacks of the entire NHL season last night in Minnesota, and it doesn't even get a mention on the front page of NHL.com, not even in the sidebar.
I'm not prone to hyperbole, and the analytical side of my brain tells me that these Nashville Predators are due for a fall, but somehow they managed to pull off another ridiculous win.
This isn't like flipping a coin and watching it come up "Heads" over and over again. This is like flipping a coin and watching it land on its edge three times in a row. Strange things are afoot here.
When will the NHL sit up and notice? Who knows, but until then, dive in to your morning hockey notes...

When we win the Stanley, the NHL headline will read, "(insert opposing team name here)loses Stanley in overtime! We will get no respect, no matter what we do, and that’s ok. There are advantages to staying under the radar, the most important one being the fact that distractions like interviews, dirt digging and the like will be held to a minimum and allow the team to stay focused. So just let it be.

The Wild were ahead 4-1, at the time……….NO MENTION of the Preds’ win.
The NHL.com franchise is seriouslyyyyyyyyyyyyy sick and delusional, as far as NEWS is concerned.
Why they would try to support the Wild, in this fashion, KNOWING that the Preds came back and won that game, by the time that clip should have been aired/posted ???
“Contempt” is too nice of a word, to describe my opinion of this wing of the NHL.

Mercy Rule:
1.1 As teams are statistically eliminated from the playoffs through the course of regular season play they enter the Draft Pool. The longer a team is in the draft pool the more points the team can acquire. The most points can be earned by beating teams that are either in the playoffs or are still in the playoff race. Further, points can also be earned in smaller amounts for such things as beating other Draft Pool teams, serving coffee and bagels to protestors, or volunteering to write the puns for the frontpage of NHL.com. At the end of the season the draft order will be calculated based around total number of points with the first spot going to the team with the most points and the fourteenth spot going to the team with the least points. The rankings will then posted outside each team’s respective gym and practice arena as well as on the walls of local therapist offices.
1.2 If when a team that has been statistically eliminated from the playoffs is being beaten by a playoff calibre team, the coach as the option of summoning one of the on ice officials and declaring that the game is a “shinny.” At this point the score is officially recorded as 0-3 in favor of the opposing team, hitting will be disallowed, and cocoa will be served during the TV timeouts.

It's interesting...
You know, the NHL website gave the Preds much deserved credit in their power rankings yesterday. The Preds were 3rd in their rankings. I’m not one to write off the NHL for caring about the Preds, but this front page gaffe is completely baffling.
They have Crosby’s injury update (which isn’t really an update at all) still on the front page, and don’t even hint about the crazy comeback from last night.

Those in charge have the philosophy that only big market teams and big market players matter. That doesn’t change when a team outside the big markets do phenomenally. It’s a mind set and you’re not going to change it. We could win the Stanley against the Flyers and they would say the Flyers gave it away rather than admit that the Flyers simply got out played by a small market team. (just an example) It is what it is.

But I will say that if the Preds can keep the “big 3”, you may see that start to change. I’m going to point to a hated football team for this, but Indianapolis is a small market. Sign a superstar, get some success, and suddenly your team is over shadowing the championship. Not in a good way, but you get the idea.

I would love to have some context for that, just out of curiosity, but that is TOTALLY unacceptable. It’s also weird that the coach doesn’t even really react after the fact… it’s like he didn’t even feel it or something. Makes me wonder how much control the coaches have over him, you know? Anyway, if Radulov does end up coming back, Trotz better make it explicitly clear that behavior like that is NOT tolerated. That’s just wrong.

Red Winds are mentioned as one of the if not the HOTTEST team in the NHL… but nothing about the REAL HOTTEST Team in the NHL!
I think this hurts us when we try and get a top 6 player to come to Nashville. We get no pub! Not in very many, if any, discussions for contending for the SC. Since we do not pay up to the Cap, I feel we get hosed! But teams like the Leafs, Habs, Flames, Bolts, Caps, and others that do… SUCK! Are not consistant winners or playoff teams. Very frustrating!!

There may be some Eastern bias
but I don’t really care. As long as the Preds keep playing top-notch hockey it doesn’t really bother me if no one else notices. I notice. I will say that XM Home Ice gave the Preds plenty of love all day. Of course some of the hosts had to tie it back to “will they sign Suter?” One game at a time, boys. Let us enjoy this one and all other wins that are to come.
The one plus about an alleged East Coast bias is no more Boudreau. The Ducks have unfortunately been on a similar tear, but at least I don’t have to see his repulsive face on TV all the time.
